Founded in Paris in 1841, ESMOD is the leading fashion school dedicated to Fashion Design and, since 1989, to Fashion Business. With 18 schools in 12 countries, ESMOD trains a new generation of professionals every year, in tune with the realities of the fashion, luxury, cultural and creative industries. The employability of students is ESMOD’s top priority. All pedagogical projects, partnerships, talks and exploration modules are designed to reinforce their skills, stimulate their creativity and develop their strategic vision. In 1996, Ibu Hartini Hartarto recognized the growing talent and interest in fashion among Indonesian youth. To provide professional fashion education and prepare them to compete globally, she introduced ESMOD to Jakarta. This initiative marked the beginning of ESMOD Jakarta’s journey in fashion education. Today, the institution is led by Ibu Maya Dewi Hartarto.
As part of the global ESMOD network, which operates in 15 countries with 23 schools, ESMOD Jakarta has become one of Indonesia’s leading fashion design institutions. The school is committed to nurturing creative talents while combining French fashion heritage with Indonesia’s rich cultural influence.
ESMOD Jakarta offers comprehensive programs that equip students with the knowledge and technical skills to design various fashion products, including luxury items, men’s, women’s, children’s fashion, and lingerie. Students are guided through the entire creative process, from concept development to presenting their collections on the runway.
The school also connects students with the fashion industry through various events such as Creative Show, Fashion Art+Vibes, and fashion design competitions. These platforms allow students to showcase their creativity and gain real industry exposure.
With a strong balance of technical and artistic education, ESMOD Jakarta prepares students to understand the fashion industry holistically. Students are encouraged to develop their creativity, refine their skills, and build connections within a global fashion network.

Where students connect, collaborate, and create together
SENATE is ESMOD Jakarta’s student organization. They organize social events to help new students get acclimatized to their new school and to make sure everybody feels a part of the big ESMOD family. SENATE also actively participates in big events, such as the annual ESMOD Jakarta Fashion Festival and St Catherine’s Day event. A great way for students to learn how fashion shows are run and a chance to brush up on their organizational skills.
